In the mid 1970's the Royal Navy purchased a few Lockheed Vikings for carrier duties in replacement of the aging Gannets. With an idea of getting some modern shipbourne AEW cover Westlands were asked to convert some Vikings for the AEW role.....

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Is that a 1/72 Viking with a 1/144 E-2 rotodome?

TallEng

Looks good
But I'm not sure that the RN had fin flashes
At that time.

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Does look good, got to build one of those

849 Sqdn 'B' Flight, magic stuff!

Presumably the Vikings took over from their Skysearchers?  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

oh so close ! . It's the Airfix Viking with the bottom half of a Revell E-3A rotodome. I was going to use the complete unit but the top half disappeared overnight (Can't believe the carpet monster was that hungry !) so this one has a flat bottom.
