I got a couple of these the other day from the Big H.
It is a really gorgeous little kit, not just streets ahead of the old one, more like space highways ahead!
The way they have done the engine cowlings is fantastic, especially if you are wanting to convert it to a version with a different engine.
However I do have one area of concern.
The anti-spin strakes  Why were these not moulded as part of the main fuselage mouldings?
These were not fitted until late 1941, and any remaining Tigers have them. So anyone seeing a Tiger Moth now will expect them.
Anyone wanting to build an earlier Tiger Moth will, I expect, be a modeller of some capability, and would be able to remove them.
I just do not understand why Airfix did the moulding this way.
For those of you who have not seen the kit yet, you have to cut out the part of the fuselage that does not have the strakes and insert the kit parts that do, creating a lot of extra work and effort.

Alle kunst ist umsunst wenn ein engel auf das zundloch brunzt!!

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Radish

Looks lovely though. And the cowling is epic.
Once you've visited the land of the Loonies, a return is never far away.....

Still His (or Her) Majesty, Queen Caroline of the Midlands, Resident Drag Queen

NARSES2

I have one on order, but I also have a plan
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Jim, I was looking at mine last night and thought it would be much easier to cut out a piece of plasticard using the kit part as a template, and then simply glue it in place.  The only reason I can think of for Airifx doing it this way is to make sure the alignment is correct.  Otherwise it'd be easier to provide a part with simple location tab, with a drill point that you only open if required?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Captain Canada

Still haven't seen that kit around here...bizarre !?
