Correctamundo Kerick.  I cut rebates with the router and sand them back to get all the years of old varnish and filth off.  I then glue and clamp any splits caused when they were pulled up. Then I fill the nail holes with a mix of glue & sawdust but leave all the dings scratches and gouges.  It'd be quicker to use new timber (so far its taken me a week to get 4 boards prepared) but it wouldn't have the character.
I built this vanity from the same stuff.  The finish is oil followed by varnish - it's a system meant for boat decks.
The mirror i'm working on will replace the small one in the picture.

That uses the same basic body shell as the Chevy Monza, doesn't it? I've always liked that shape and you've done a great job of it.

And TWO blowers on the engine? That should move right on out!!!!

Yes, I think that GM were doing a spot of badge engineering.
Two small blowers.  Not sure if that's better than one big one or just added complexity.  Still, it keeps it all under the bonnet.

(Crappy phone) update pics.
Henfield camo.  Nearly ready for decals.  The round green thing was the crows nest.  It's now the flying bridge.


Aforementioned Moskito.  Now renamed the Gully Godwit.  Also nearly ready for decals.


And a rough mock up of a Hind on floats.


I now have a dilemma.  I have two Harpoons in a Hasegawa weapons set.  Should I use them on the Godwit or the Hind?  The Godwit has a 37mm anti aircraft gun in the back for gunship duties and will also have a PAVE pod and a searchlight.  The Hind will have at least 1 (maybe 2 or 3 ) torpedoes and whatever the gun in the nose turret is.

The camo on the Godwit works too.  I glanced at the table it was sitting on with the paint drying and because of the patterns messing with depth perception I had to look twice to realise what I was looking at.

Desert Fulmar is coming along nicely.  The canopy is a real bitch to paint though.

Valom XFV-1 Salmon is being recalcitrant.  The cockpit has a smattering of PE which looks good but then doesn't want to fit between the fuselage halves.  Plus, if you sit a pilot in the seat his head doesn't come above the coaming. 
Rather than lift the seat I cut down the raised cockpit surround (I thought it looked odd anyway).
Fuselage is shimmed with styrene sheet to widen it.

Since receiving my subscription issue of AMW today I have a new object of obsession.
I really really really want a Wingnut Wings Felixstowe F2a.
Unfortunately at 920mm span it definitely breaks my "will it fit on the shelf" rule.

I know where your coming from and agree with you 

It amuses me, and says at lot about early 20th century pilots mentality, that the first version with enclosed canopy looks far more modern then the latter one with open canopy. Indeed you could put the early version in a WWII scheme

I see what you mean.  I've cut the warp nacelles down slightly since the pic.  The plan is to have steps built into the slopes at the back for combat divers to climb up.

I believe the CG of a helicopter is pretty close to the main rotor so I would center the floats there.
Any beaching gear for this project? Lots of cool potential here.

No beaching gear for the Hind - it'd just put the floats down on the deck.  They'll have reinforcing strips along the bottom.
Although thinking about it I could build in some wheels...

Anyhoo, some update pics.
The Moskito, sorry Godwit is crawling towards completion.  Here is a very poor phone pic with a cluttered background.

On a related note I drove down to the shops at the beach today and tide, sun and time of day conspired to almost exactly match my camo colours.

Dessert Fulmar is ready for some clear and then decals.
