Hey Guys, Inspired by Great Profiles like the Ones Done by Clave, I'm considering doing a C-130 in Colonial Markings. Which would Be Better? Getting a viper Model or Decal Sheet with Markings or Recreating The Markings with Paint and Maybe Stencils? Could Use some Advice from You Guys. What Say You? Thanks for Looking. Dan

How do you feel about printing your own decals?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I'm not sure, I have an Inkjet Printer, but it Gets a Lot of Use and I Don't have the Software for it. I was Thinking about Either using Decals from a New BSG Viper or Trying to get a Decal sheet. I Also have some Pactra Trim Tape and was Considering using that for the Stripes. Don't mean to sound like a Fool.Dan

Printing decals doesn't need dedicated software, any graphics programme will do the job, even MS Paint which comes with Windows can be used at a pinch. What you will need is the proper decal paper for inkjet printing and possibly some sealing varnish after they're printed.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I almost bought a System made by Testors for making Decals, but wasn't sure. I'm Thinking about that kind of thing but, May go to making the Markings if I Can't find Decals Available. Dan

I've made a few of the original Monogram/Revell Viper kits over the years and to be very honest the markings pretty much consist of stripes. With the lumps and bumps on the surface of the kit I found simple masking and painting far superior to the provided decals, with the added benefit of being able to get the correct shades. Not sure about the remake Vipers markings.
