My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Very cool, I'm planning a carrier based MiG27 as part of my group build subjects. Now I have some visual referances on where to stick the hook....

Neat-o !

What's the big silver dealy on the tail ? Some kind of stiffener for the arrested landings ? A tail fold mechanism ?

Rooskie carrier aviation is cool..........

It's a zipper. In the 1970s the Soviet Union experimented with a special rigid zipper-like mechanism to ease the time-consuming chore of removing an engine for service. It was supposed to be then covered with a flap to reduce drag, but they were poorly fitted, and as you can see by the photograph, would come off in flight. The concept was abandoned after less than two dozen aircraft were so fitted.

Interesting to see the other planes on the refered website; I could hack an S-3 into the Beriev P-42, and an E-2 would be a good start for the YaK-44. Do any of our comrades have such in production?
You can also see the inspiration for the Sovietsky Soyuz in the first carrier design. I haven't put in missile hatches, but could easily add some, if the team believes the ship would have carried such.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

All Soviet/Russian carrier designs featured missile launchers in some form, right up to the VLS aboard Kuznetsov.  Sovietskiy Soyuz should have them as well.

I'd be inclined to call it a set of reference marks for tracking aircraft behavior during the landings and takeoffs since I rather suspect that the tail section would see the highest loads.

Moving to the aircraft on Flankerman's site, I'd love to do a cross between a MiG-23K and a MiG-23MLD.
