Actually it's Blythe Ca. Lol just flat desert for miles. Yes, that is a P-38 in the background. It was at the Pima Air Museum then traded to a Museum in France. Sadly while in France it was lost in a hanger fire.

Donation parts from other aircraft were quite common in the paint scheme transistion time of the USN - switching the outer wings was a frequent measure. I have also seen pics of similar F9F Panther/Cougar hybrids, but with a complete blue tail section on an NMF or grey/white aircraft.
