I built this as part of the 'What If' GB over on the UAMF using the old Airfix Lightning F.1A.

In 1965 the top brass at the RAF thought that as that year marked the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Britain something should be done to mark the occasion. After some debate it was decided that a Lightning of 92 Sqn would be painted in the colours and markings of one of the squadron's Spitfires as used in the battle. It proved to be very popular with the crowds during the airshow season but naturally the livery was removed before the squadron was posted to Germany at the end of the year.

Except for the yellow circle it looks like it would be just as effective. Nice work!

Cool.
How about an F35 in a similar scheme for the 50th?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Those colours really suit it. I've a real soft spot for that scheme, it seems to work so well on....(fill in plane of choice) ;D:wub:

What comes to mind is "simple yet effective". Nicely done! Are the undersides all Sky?
