What to do with the soon to be re-released Vickers Vanguard in 1/144th from Airfix?

RAF Maritime Reconnaisance?

RAF VTOL transport?

Steampunked?

RAF Maritime Reconnaisance?

Been there, done that, great fun.   http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,25003.0/highlight,vickers+nimrod.html

Stretch it.

Guppy freighter.

Break into international markets, especially N. America.

Fit longer wings.

Double deck it?

AND fit longer wings..........  ;)

Anything a KC-135 or P-3 has ever done. AEW, ASW, patrol, ELINT, SAR, VIP transport. It would look cool in any of these missions.

BTW, nice work Jaybee!

The April ???  Airfix magazine has an article and a build of the Vanguard.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Water bomber would look great. I thought of using the 1/144 RR Tynes on the Whispering Wheelbarrow.

Vanguards had Tynes

Interesting bit of info, when Vanguards were used by a freighting outfit to haul supplies to Germany for the RAF, they could carry more bombs than a B-52 (in weight that is)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Cool. You could always build  Canadian Pacific one.

I like the stretch idea, as well as water bomber. MPA ( again ) for sure.

A stretched Vanguard, a la CL-44D, would look excellent! I wonder how many I have....

With a little modification couldn't that be ab entry for an alternate and cheaper V force???

A bomber ? Not a bad idea. Maybe under the premise that if things hotted up they could be pressed into service ?

My immediate thought was an AWACS with the Hawkeye rotodome.

Water bomber would be awesome! Wish I had thought of that. Canadian markings of course.

Naturally, far better than a common side door.
