Back in the 1990's I subscribed to a local modelling magazine called SFM (Sci Fi Modeller) In the mid '90's we had a few comps, the first one, "design a vehicle that could fit into a Thunderbirds episode either as a 'hero' model, or something to fit into the set". This is my entry.
Using two Airfix fighters, F-104 and Mirage 111 and joining them together. With the fuselage cockpit and tail of the Mirage married to the wings/intakes and tailplane of the F-104. The tailplane became a canard, and the ship was to be launched from a mobile rocket launcher. Under the intakes is the weapons rack, and the forward intakes? Either intakes for a scram jet, or more weapons, it was never decided.
I know, the G-force would have killed the pilot, but how can you kill a puppet?

VERY nice model, Lyn, once more
Though I am surprised by your mentioning Mirage "111". I have seen this writing on a kit box (Airfix yes, I think), but it is clearly a misunderstanding: the manufacturer pronounced MIRAGE 3 and wrote this in Roman signs, with capitals for mirage iii. Do you thought it was Mirage One-hundred-eleven? or was it a joke mixing further with the G.D. F-111? :)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

You could have posted it as a "long lost Thunderbirds model" and fooled most of us  :D

Great stuff!

Sales of Airfix kits plummeted in the 1980s, and GCSEs had to be made easier as a result - James May

Yes, definately Anderson-nesque, with the bumps and the colours and markings. Very nice!

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

That's a keeper (saved on my HD and will send to some other SF fans).

Great job!

And I still have some of those SF Modeler mags: fantastic "hands-on" kind of articles and pics!
