I saw an old WW2 movie months ago called "Victory Through Airpower": It was a ridiculous movie which had so many flaws in it, it's hard to actually watch and not laugh

  • His analysis on the disadvantages of tactical aviation had all sorts of flaws: An example would be, while short-ranged tactical aviation often is, one could take a location; then use it to launch an attack on somewhere else -- both us and the Germans did this with devastating effect
  • Fighters are unsuited to defending bombers: Their guns are not agile!  Uh, their guns are as agile as the plane is and considering the time it takes to move the turret, compute lead, then fire -- bombers weren't so perfect at defending themselves
.
Regardless, I liked some of the caricatures in the movie and one was these

It's obviously a P-39 caricature

The thing though is I think it's such an awesome looking design: It kind of has a P-39 and Spitfire thing going for it.

I'm curious about something which may or may not be silly.

How would the P-39 have worked out if it had a belly radiator like the P-51 or Hurricane?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

I love the B-36ish bomber raid on Japan.  Great animation.
The Leng Plateau is lovely this time of year

Bugs Bunny dealing with a plane load of gremlins is pretty funny!
