Neptune wouldn't make a particularly good tanker aircraft.  The fuselage is too slim and it wouldn't be able to carry very much fuel.   Yes, RR Darts, even Tynes would more than likely fit.

Although she is skinny, I think you could have a enough gas for a medium air-refueler.  The Savage and Skywarrior worked.  The Neptune carried a good amount of fuel in its wing tanks.  Combine this with the bomb bay and some fuselage tanks I think it could work.    If you stripped out all the ASW gear and racks, you could fit a few tanks in front of the spar, a few behind the spar and a saddle tank above the wing spar.

Almost anything looks great with Darts....

Kawasaki proposed a transport version of the P-2, with an enlarged fuselage. Lockheed also proposed a couple. Hawkins and Powers of the Fire Bomber industry proposed a turbo-prop version using Allisons I think from the P-3, nacelles and all as a fire bomber.

Thanks for the replies.
There was a model of a Super Neptune with 4 turboprops similar layout to the P-3 Orion wing.

I've managed to cut the cockpit section and tail from a Frog Avro Shackleton then add the cockpit /radome with the tail section from a Frog Lockheed Neptune.  The weapons bay doors have been replaced with the resin AeroClub Shackleton Mk2 conversion.  This still maintains a deep bomb bay and fits snugly behind the radome. The new tail is a good fit whereas the front needs a bit of filler/putty.
I'm thinking of changing the engines to a pair of Tynes. I could test the Darts from the Mach2 Argos kit.
