Hmmm, interesting. I have a number of projects on stock, but I don't know whether I have the skill/nerve...

You're never going to know/learn/improve if you don't try are you?  ;D

Arab-Israel conflict GB.

This year we commemorate 75 years from 1941. A lot of important events happened that year in the frame of WWII: Operation Barbarossa, Pearl Harbour, ...
So 1941 GB

Will die without understanding this world.

2017 is also the 50th anniversary of the Six Day War.

What about animals and/or buildings?

Rather then having a whole load of specific anniversary options in the poll I'm just going to have a single one. Not sure of the exact wording yet but it will mean you can pick an anniversary that's either a 5 or a 0 and is more than 30 years old ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Anniversary GB? Every year its own version? Sounds good to me.

Ok, but I would prefer a specific aniversary.  "Any" anniversary opens it wide open. Too open in my view- almost no theme at all. We could have WWI tanks, gulf war jets and roman chariots all in same build- too broad I feel.  I prefer a theme/year to narrow it a bit. 6 days war, 1941, fall of the soviet bloc etc would still leave plenty of options.

No criticism please, just my thoughts.  I thought the Battle of Britain was perfect as it gave a specific theme and time frame, but as witnessed by the entries, plenty of lattiute for creativity and much interest.

You could have Six Day War as a theme for the one-week GB, held over the same period as the actual war.... ;D

I do appreciate what you are saying but the problem is that there are an awful lot of anniversaries in 2016. Somme, Verdun, Pearl Harbour, German invasion of the Soviet Union, Suez to name just the few at the front of my brain. To have all of those as individual choices would only split the vote and then upset anybody who's favourite anniversary I'd missed. The BoB build was slightly different in that it is so iconic ?

What we could do (and I know I dismissed this idea earlier  :banghead:) is have one category for "Anniversary GB" then if that comes in the top 3 we have a second poll to choose the specific anniversary or year we are going to celebrate/commemorate ? The GB would then be either the second or third GB of this trio to give me time to organise the poll after collecting ideas for it.

How does that sound ?

I won't apply this procedure to the Lets be different GB category as I just don't think any of the individual suggestions contained in it would generate enough support. Harsh possibly but fair in my judgement.

That sounds great. A second vote to decide on which anniversary sounds very logical.  Sorry that it could require a bit more work to set up another vote.

Also agree that there will always be a few that only get a few votes- and some dissapointment from the nominee, but we are a (usually) a happy democracy here.  Think you are accuarate in that assesment.

Not from me.  I just voted and there were so many good suggestions I didn't make that I had a real problem.
