Could you explain (more or again?) the painted canopies on lateral fuselages? if the glassware has been removed (for extra tanks or something), why are there still the cockpit frames? thanks!

thanks fellows and Tophe, unfortunately all available documentation on this plane was assiduously burned by the Luftwaffe prior to the surrender so absolutely nothing is known about the canopy arrangement...convenient, eh?
