Quote from: kerick on August 21, 2023, 08:25:02 PMAre there any ship or AEW systems that can guide a missile launched from an aircraft? That would make the aircraft sort of like the missiles first stage and initial guidance. Probably is I just can't think of one.

I think I read one time that an EC-2 could basically remote control the AIM-54s from a Tomcat but not sure if that was available in the late 70's early 80's or if it would work with the AIM-7

That's a nice one!  Like an older version of my USN Sea Harrier.

Ooooh I love this one ! The Harrier has long been one of my favourite aeroplanes, and this one just looks right. Love the weapons load as well !

Very nice, excellent idea, almost wish the USN had actually adopted it.  A few on their CVNs and more so LPH/LHA/LHD as fast reaction defense!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

That was actually what I was loosely basing the idea on as I was building it. I'm actually working on a Hobby 2000 1/72 A-4E now  ;D

That's a cool idea and a nice-looking plane. Those AIM-7s look big on a Harrier :)
... I know all this and more ...
