How come there aren't more airfield acessory sets

How come only the RAF get to refuel their aircraft and only until the 1940s you'd think there would be a market for luftwaffe  recovery sets and fire engines and vehicles to supply missiles and bombs to buccaneers and vulcans. Especially as there would be conversion possibilities for our model railroad  brethren if the cabs had potential for being reused for everything from coal trucks to dust carts

There was a UK company who did all sorts of resin airfield support stuff in 1/72 at one time. They did fire trollies, generator sets, refuellers and tractors etc. I think Paragon started them off but the line was taken over my someone else later on.

For sure the casting was done by CMA Finecast as I recognised their moulding techniques.

BW Models had a huge range of post war Briitish Army and RAF support vehicles but finished production a few years ago. The range was broken up between several outfits but I'm not sure about some of the more esoteric stuff, might be worth looking on ebay.

In the older Airfix magazines there are conversion ideas based on the Airfield Recovery set. I've got a copy of the January 1972 edition but someone has removed the article on the Avro Lincoln conversion.

Didn't Airfix do some Luftwaffe figures in their OO/HO figures range eons ago ? I know they did RAF but I have memories of Luftwaffe and maybe even USAAF figues lurking in the back of my brain.

So figures, yes but no vehicles in the range.

I'd forgotten some of the sets in this range. There was even a civilian set, complete with village bobby and a Tarzan set.

I have the Academy Hobby Model Kits 1/72 WW2 Ground Vehicle Set 2, the US 2 1/2 ton 6x6 cargo truck and accessories. In the background there's a picture of a P-47, so in theory this counts as a ground vehicle. One could build it carrying an aircrew, or bombs and rockets and ammo.
There must be a variety of tanker trucks out there to serve, and Jeeps of course were commonly used. As for the more specialized equipment, there's always scratch-building, using tires and other bits from more commonly available kits.

I'd love some more modern USAF or other branch service airfield sets. I've got some of the old 1/72 scale Hasegawa sets, but I think there needs to be more newly updated 1/72 and 1/48 airfield equipment sets. I would especially like to see more 1/48 and some 1/32 scale stuff.

I'd like to see either Tamiya or Italieri do some 1/35th non-armor- like HETS (Heavy Equipment Transporter System).  Tracked armor don't drive themselves when they don't have to.

Aren't Airfix doing a USA WWII airfield set similar to the RAF one....?  I'd like to think with the companies recent new tool Luftwaffe bombers that an appropriate airfield set will follow soon......
