No real backstory for this one. Just a nice simple build with a change of ownership.

Tamiya 1/72 P-47 D Thunderbolt of the Royal Netherlands Army East Indies A.F. of 1-VLG-IV based at Tarakan, Borneo in June 1945 flying in support of the Australian 9th Division and its attached Netherlands troops.

The paints are mainly Xtracrylic with some Humbrol and Lifecolor. Transfers in the main are from the DP Casper sheet "Java Sea - From January to March 1942". The personal marking was actually used on a Dutch Do-24K, so at least it's Dutch  ;D. The other transfers are from the Tamiya sheet and yes it does have a U.S. serial but these aircraft were on loan from the U.S.A.A.F. and as such were never actually owned by the RNAEIAF.

A nice relaxing build over the festive season, apart that is from painting the orange bits  :banghead:

Always nice to see a Jug in other markings....be nice to see more flags instead of roundels on other aircraft ;D Underside colour is very striking .

Oh, that's a gem! lovely to see a jug in Dutch markings . I like the orange accents on it, a nice touch and a hint to the Dutch royal family...I've got to make a Dutch Whif aswell. Like they say in the mid-east USA: "if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much..".

A proud Dutchman...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That was the intention  Always had a soft spot for Holland ever since I first went there as an 8 year old in 1960. Then ended up working very closely with Dutch colleagues when British Steel and Hoogovens merged.

Thanks gents
