I can see you have already started it, but I was going to suggest doing it in varying shades metallics? Or even a variation of the Ukrainian splinter schemes. Or NATO Black body, dark gray trim and maybe teal blue leading edges? Bit late now though sorry - I have only just seen this thread today
I have just taken delivery of the Cosmo Zero from the same show and it is a cool looking fighter

Doing anything in metallics has never worked out well for me.  :banghead: That's why I went with something different and did a retro WWII Flying Tigers scheme. And to be honest, it fits the SBY theme too. After all, the SBY story, series, etc. did start out in the beginning from the Earth Far East Asian area where the Yamato was being built and where most of the characters came from. So I figured why not have a Cosmo Falcon squadron come from that area too and be based off of the old Flying Tigers which also operated out of southeast Asia?

This model build hasn't gone well for me.  :banghead: Already, I have made four mistakes, with one of them majorly with the weapon bay doors being inserted incorrectly and no way to fix it as they are already glued in. And building the 2D engine nozzles was a pain in the  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
Whatever good things I may have said about BANDAI kits in the past, I now regret it and take it back........at least for this kit. I will never again buy or build another Cosmo Falcon kit again.
Anyway...........the vast majority of gluing and painting is done. I'm on decaling right now. More pics to possibly come tomorrow maybe.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Why not?

You know all its faults now, & how to avoid the issues in the future.

Finished.

I'm not happy with the decals though.  :banghead:  The clear flat I used to brush over the glossy decals seems to have made them look worse.  :banghead:  Other than that, I skipped not painting the landing gear white since the pieces were already molded in white plastic. Even though the model is on a stand that is supposed to be used to display a model in flight, I wanted everything open on the underside so people could see the wheel wells as well as the weapon bays.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I am liking this very much, I could just see one of these in the anti particle weapon metallic scheme I use on my S.H.A.D.O. aircraft. Commander Straker has already been scouring the net to find one to evaluate. At my expense of course  :banghead:

Interesting thing about that Flying Tigers motif/theme. It does fit somewhat within the SBY universe. Think about this: The Space Battleship Yamato ship and the majority of crew/characters did come from the Japan/Far East Asian sector of Earth.
The Flying Tigers did operate in the Far East Asian area (China, Burma, etc.) of Earth back in WWII.

Seems like a perfect fit to me.

And as the New World Order has all the Military as one Big, Happy Family, you'd have former historical foes using unit/battle/personal names without worrying whose side they had been on...
sort of like the Starship Troopers having ships called Yamamoto and Hood, Bull Run and IIRC there was a Dien Bien Phu also.

I do like the very first picture in Post # 33. Kinda looks like a head on shot of a cobra's snake head. At least, to me it does. ;)
