Testor Jet Exhaust color?

From time to time, I've seen pics of models over the years where Testor MM Acryl Jet Exhaust color was used to paint the inside of an aircraft model's engine tailpipes as well as the outside. Which is it? Inside or out? I would think that because the paint color is called "Jet Exhaust", that the color would be primarily used on the inside of the tailpipes.

It's supposed to represent the colourization of 'heated metal' rather than 'soot',
so both surfacs are candidates.

Burnt umber and other blackish browns work well for exhaust/soot stains, but agree with Jon that that the Jet Exhaust is intended for the scorching on high temp metal parts such as afterburner cans, exhaust pipes etc.
