Got ya! yeah they are very low, over twice as low as you can see in this pic

You can stand alongside a Gnat and look clean OVER it to chat to people on the other side! 

The only other jet aircraft that I can recall with the same property is the Vampire, another ground hugger.

The BD-5J fits that bill as well.

With the Magister, it looks like a close call whether you might be able to converse across the cockpit area, but the tail section definitely seems conducive to carry on a bilateral dialogue...
