I've seen a few where the initials are standard height and in the more familiar position split by the roundel and look like normal squadron codes.  Douglas Bader (D*B) and Johnnie Johnson (JE*J) come to mind.  My guess is there was no hard and fast rule.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Gondor and Chris
the CRC is Wingco Clive Caldwell's plane and the WFD is Wingo Wilfred Dixon's plane...just wonder if this initial bizzo was written down anywhere

Tone successfully lowered.  I'll be off now...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Given officers were commissioned and their commission's granting would have been published there will be a list of them on-line somewhere  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

It appears there is no uniform stipulation applicable to 'Wingco Flying' personal markings.. ( note: O=Roundel, for graphic purposes here, below)

A quick squiz through 'Typhoon & Tempest Aces.. by  C.Thomas' - shows D.E. Gillam using both ZOZ,( full size) & Ozz ( 1/4 size) on 'his' Typhoon,
R.E.P. Brooker opts for a simple full size BO,
& J.R. Baldwin goes with a small JB ( 1/4 size) & on the engine cowl of 'his' Typhoon behind the spinner but above the exhaust stubs..

Tempest ID's show a similar lack of specific coding with R. Beamont as ROB, in regular size, but J.B. Wray has JBWO in small ( ~1/4 size) script,
while E.D. Mackie has EDMO in 'bout 1/2 size letters.
