Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

yeap with weather/search radar in nose like some variants. puma did have rescue hoist.
did also think 202 going tactical as well and doing CSAR/Combat recovery role as well

Seems odd to me that the MOD UK didn't order any Super Pumas or upgrade the fleet to Super Puma spec.
That would make an interesting whiff, likewise if they had ordered the Super Frelon instead of the Sea King.

The upgrade they did to the Pumas was pretty much to Super Puma spec, they just didn't call it that, probably so that it didn't attract political attention and awkward/ignorant questions...

the up grade was very similar to the SADF Oryx upgrade was it not?
I have heard the RAF wanted super puma to have commonality with other european airforces but the govt chose the merlin instead to preserve british jobs. when that deal was obvious their airships then said they wanted more chinook
