Would this include 'Ekranoplans' ?

Right Jaybee (Jim) has confirmed his up for Moderating so we currently have 3 moderators  Kit, Jim and Mr Wombat.

I'll be posting some suggested rules up latter in the week, once I've had a chance to have a word with the Moderators, so please hold your horses until then. However I am assuming that we will be using a very broad definition of the word "Amphibian" so land based ones will be perfectly acceptable I would have thought.

As regards aircraft, 'amphibian' already covers every aircraft that's flown successfully as they all operate in the air and on one other medium, water or land........ 

We'll need to closely define the definition for aircraft models as a result, won't we?

I would think that an Ekranoplan, as long as it can use water, is eligible. I believe that there have been a couple of WIG vehicles that are not water capable so they would not qualify.

OK. So we're looking at a rule that states that WATER must be one of the mediums on which an aircaft lands or on which a vehicle operates, & another which states that "amphibians" must be able to operate on both LAND and WATER (the ability to operate in AIR is optional for amphibians).

That's nice! I am looking forward to this GB, have a LOT of possible kits, as I like flying boats very much, and choosing one will already be a difficult choice,  but this adds another possibility of wild trucks and AFV, maybe even civilian cars

Hence the broad definition of "amphibian", to give AFV/Car/Truck/Motorcycle modellers something to think about & build.

Yes gents please let the Moderators (and I have 3 of them  ) agree the rules amongst themselves before we start to get the lawyers involved 

We have kicked the discussion off and I'll be drafting some for their perusal (basically I act as the Committee Clerk  ) and once they are happy with them I will get them on site so you can all ask the questions you want. I'm being a bit of a martyr to my first cold of the season at the moment so apologise for my tardiness. Just give us a week or so.

Commiserations on your cold, Chris. Colds can be a lot more enervating that many people expect.  I may possibly be able to contribute a backstory or tthree for someone else to use...and maybe even  make a model.....assuming that radio/chemotherapy goes well.
