Anyway remember this is about the What-if modelling prospects, we can now put the f-35B into UK service with FAA & RAF, we can do Naval Typhoon, RN Rafale, Super Hornet, Hawkeye etc all under the whif realm of almost were's

Or a P.1216, of course......

I'm sure we COULD have built all of those aircraft, but successive governments have never had any proper ideas about 'defending the realm' at all, and won't fork out for them. We wouldn't have the Typhoons now unless BAe et al hadn't put their private money behind the EAP.

The suppliers can't have any faith all in the Governments as projects are likely to be cancelled at the drop of a hat, so why would they waste their own money proposing schemes that are not likely to enter service?

Am I glad I never did go into the aviation industry in the 60s, I'd have been a mental basket case by now. (Yeah, I know, I probably am one anyway....  ;D)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I've just read over on the Secret Projects Forum, that 617 Sqn. will be reformed as the first F-35B squadron. Because my Dad served in 617 Sqn. I now have a solid reason to buy a 1/48 F-35B as it will go along side every other aircraft 617 Sqn. operated that I'm building in 1/48 scale.

As an aside, I've been looking for a 1/48 scale F-35B canopy for another project I have in mind so this is a perfect opportunity . Stay tuned -----
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

That's been the case for some time now IIRC. They'll be based at Marham, not quite in Lincolnshire, but only one county away.  ;D
