Canuck Redux - Revisiting Canada's Aviation History

With Boeing trying to put Bombardier out of business, and Canada threatening never to buy Boeing again if it does, I thought I would revisit the history that led to Canada operating F-18A/B Hornets and looking at buying F/A-18E/F Super Hornets. How could I rewrite history to prevent the Canucks having to deal with the devil that is Boeing?

As a starting point, the upstanding folks at Belcher Bits (in Canada) just delivered me these. A fine-looking pair of 1/72 decal sheets for the CF-101 and CF-104. Now how could I use these to put the Canadians on a different path?

A CAF Skyhawk would also be nice?

The reality of Canada's shared commitment to North American air defense (and I am deliberately eliminating a Canadian-developed solution) means at least one of them will have to be a U.S. aircraft, just not one in Boeing's lineage. But does it? I thought I knew what I wanted to do, but now my mind is wandering in other directions...oh the possibilities!
