It sure feels good to be back at the workbench.  First build in six years is a quick real world build.  I wanted a nice easy kit to work with to ease myself back in so I went with the lovely Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1D.

As always, it starts with the office...

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

OK, can someone help me with the pic posting?  It's been a while.

I cant use photo bucket anymore obviously so moved to google pictures.  I take the link from google and copy it between the [img] brackets.  What am I doing wrong?

Must be something to do with the way Google links the pics.

If I view the URL of the pic directly it works OK, but I see the whole Google page, not just the pic.

Can anyone recommend a good pic hosting site to use these days?

I've always used ImageShack, it costs if you post a lot of pics, but it's not very much. Specially compared to those PB rob-dogs!

OK, another try with Imageshack.  Thanks!

After the pic was taken I added some individual instrument face decals from the Pro Modeler WW2 US Navy sheet.

Model is almost done and should be ready for a reveal this afternoon.  Gluing on the fiddly bits at the moment.

Beauty job, and welcome back! Another good image hosting site is, believe it or not, facebook. Or Goggle+. Doesn't work for all sites, but does for this one and ARC. Hyperscale it doesn't. I post my pictures there, then just right click, 'copy link address', then post them here.

Welcome back - nice to see you!

After the Photobucket debaclé I've started using Flickr. The organization of the site is a little odd but once you get used to it it works well.

Thanks Rat!  Good to be back!  I'll check out the other photo options.

For now here she is all done.  Excuse the poor pics, just a couple from my phone on a kitchen counter.  I'll get back into the groove of taking good pics in good time.

I'm pretty happy for a five day build after no modeling for six years.  The weathering may be a little overdone, but I like how it looks on the shelf.  Now to decide what to do next...12 days off and a rainy week forecast could be a dangerous combination!!

Weathering looks fine to me: lots of aircraft got very 'unglamorous' very quickly in real-life service conditions.

Good looking build!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Can't believe I haven't commented! :o

Looks brilliant, to me!

Corsairs got very used looking very quickly in the PTO. From all the photo's I've seen, this one looks pretty pristine. ;)
