Volvo pv544 Model Query

Hey Guys, i was just watching an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" on the Cable channel Velocity & was Wondering if Anyone can Point me to a Scale Model of the Volvo pv544? it was a Top Notch Rally Car according to Mike Brewe on Wheeler Dealers. Can Anyone Help? Thanks for Looking. Dan

Revell do, or did, an 1/18 scale PV544, but it's not cheap at that scale, and probably weighs a few pounds too!

A smaller 1/43 die cast model was around, but I haven't seen one for a while now. Neither can I remember who made it.

My father had a 544 growing up, and every time I see one (sadly in pictures now), it brings back the memories- particularly the smell of the interior, which (also) sadly, I cannot describe.

And the P1800 is one of those cars that are on my dream list to own.

My 'work' car was a Volvo 850 Estate for 2.5 yrs, and it was the best car I ever had. It was quick, carried a VAST amount and went round corners like it was painted on the road.

The Amazon is my favorite "everyday car" from that period, along with SAAB 96. There's a couple of guys with P1800s, or "Saint Volvos" in town.

Volvo's P1800 styling was acually copied from a British Design: the Reliant Scimitar SE5.

And when I get the suspension fixed on mine (it's 20 years old, spongy, and probably never been replaced), I plan on taking it around NJ Motorsports Park.

If you can get the T5 suspension springs and dampers, which Volvo rather quaintly called a 'Lowered chassis', it's well worth the effort. Mine was like that, even though it was a 2.5 ltr 10 valve GL, and it handled superbly. I believe the spares cost the same as the standard springs etc. or they did in the UK anyway.

I had a red 850 Station Wagon for about 12 years before I replaced it with a Saab sedan.  Both were second hand.  God, I miss that Saab.  Most luxurious car I've ever owned.  Leather, heated or cooled seats, superb air conditions and more pull than a school boy...   Pity the bloody thing was about 10 years old when I got it.  It was only designed to last 10 years and everything started going wrong.  In the end replaced the Turbo and got shot of it.  It was a beautiful white colour, too.
