So I just bought a 1/76 Airfix Land Rover (Hard Top) kit, only to find out that what was inside the box was actually a soft top.  I took it back to the store, and after a lengthy explanation of what exactly was the problem, they agreed to take it back, but it seems they were out of stock up to the distributor and couldn't offer a replacement.

Don't suppose someone's got a spare Hard Top piece kicking around? Not sure what I could offer in trade, but I'm open to suggestions - how 'bout a soft top?  ;D.  I'm actually planning to modify the top into a double skinned "safari" style anyway, so if the cost is much more that a few bucks for postage and your trouble, I'll probably just end up trying to scratch up a replacement.
Thanks!

Landies are mostly flat panels with a few single radius curves.  Man of your talents...

I just checked my stash.  The one I have is a soft top.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I knew I had this somewhere, and after exhaustive searching in the stash I found it. Yes it was on the top in an open tray with only one other box on top!

It is a resin casting that was produced by a company "somewhere in England" when the JB (no connection!) model of the Landrover came out. The JB moulds being subsequently taken over by Airfix.

If you are interested, let me know your snailmail address. You are welcome to it, I know that I will never use it.

Wow! Now I have to choose between two offers!  Thanks so much to both of you (and zenrat for looking!).

JayBee... I'll be sending a PM your way... ;)
Thanks!

Is it serendipity that JayBee responds with a part designed for a JB Land Rover I ask myself?  ;D ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Hah! I actually thought that as well! It's positively providential!~

Now that I've secured a hard top.  I got excited and got started on the Land Rover project (http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,44232.30.html).

I should also mention, that it's things like this that really make this site feel like a community.  JayBee graciously declined payment for hard top mod, saying he was just happy it was going to a good home to be used - a sentiment I concur with (and not just because I happen to be on the receiving end this time!).
Thanks!
