I think 1940 would be too early for the removal of camo and the return to NMF and bright squadron markings.

It would depend when Hitler was actually deposed and when the German political situation was 'restored'.

Only then would the British Government have deemed Europe to have become peaceful enough to warrant a return to brighter colour schemes.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
