What title says is what mentions Derek Wood in his book Projects cancelled (page 102)

A very long time ago I got a bag of DDR plastic junk with pieces from HS Trident and Boeing 727 both 1/100. No brand mentioned but I think many of you know this models.

None of aircraft was complete, but for me a good starting point for nice projects.

I recently found above image while googling and decided to begin this project.

Feel free to comment details of this design based in a very controversial aircraft. ;)

Tail fin already deleted and nose balanced with ballast. Vertical panels are intended to avoid void effect when you look through the windows.

Bttb RR Spey chosen but this can be changed. Central engine is done with fuselage of a MiG-21 1/100 from the same DDR manufacturer.

Probably horizontal plane from 727 (in the left in pic) will serve to build tail fin.

Those will be the VEB 1/100 scale kits, noted for their concrete like 'styrene'.

[Please note the word 'styrene' here is used in its widest POSSIBLE sense!  :o]
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The design sketch above reminds me a lot of a trimotor Caravelle? Probably the low stabilizers, which look a bit fishy to me - very close to the jet efflux?

There is a problem with wings, Ihave not uper half of left wing of Trident, so I have some alternatives:

1 ) Use 727 complete wings without modification.
2 ) Use 727 complete  wings and modificate them to look more de Havilland.
3 and 4 ) Use 727 upper halves matted with lower halves of Trident's, adjusting span to Trident or 727.

White are Trident's and yellow are 727's.

I probably will choose 2nd option but respecting 727 span because I think this would be a good choice for the real thing. What do you think?

Captain Canada

I think it's a good choice. Looking forward to seeing more.

You've made a very good job out all that VEB junk.

The hybrid wings worked out very well indeed.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
