G'day all,

I hope I'm in the right spot for this question. Apologies if I'm not.

So I've recently picked up a few kits from the various sales and clearances on the forum and as I've been unpacking them, and bodging together a Heller J.22 I couldn't not start, , one of my house mates has gotten interested in perhaps having a go at modeling something herself. She is thinking about perhaps doing a truck of some kind to start with and is looking for a simple build for her first attempt. As such I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on which manufacturers might be a bit more new builder and budget friendly? I'm pretty sure she could do something in smaller scale but perhaps something in a larger scale to begin with.

She hopes to build a model of the old sailing ship Batavia one day, if we can ever find her one. I think Revell did one in 1/150th at some point.

Revell might be a good place to start. If you want really simple try a snap tight kit. Nice on the budget and better detail than you might think.

Airfix do a range of vehicles for the novice to the expert at reasonable prices. So does Heller.

Thanks guys. Never even thought about the snap tight kits.

I'll take her to a couple of local stores and see what grabs her fancy.
