Looks like a big block Chevy he's using for power there.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I think that's a World Products Merlin engine (they produce crate engines designed to be compatible with big block Chevy engines). You can get engine capacities of up to 10 litres (632 cu in).

I'm of two minds on this one. On one hand, he uses an engine that has the correct name. On the other hand, he could have used an LS V12 engine and got the correct number of cylinders.

Or he could have used a Falconer V-12 like the type being used in the 3/4 scale Thunder Mustang

Now if he'd had a go at a Commonwealth Boomerang I'd have shown more interest
