It felt like we'd all done a marathon at MK.

In today's heat the place was like a sauna and the HEATING WAS STILL ON!!!! There seemed to be many rumours as to why this was the case, but no attempts whatsoever were being made to turn it off. If I'd travelled there in my own car I'd have got my tool kit out and turned the radiators off individually, but I'd been given a ride over there and no tools were available, nor any common sense either.  :banghead:

The show was good, our SIG display was close to the one at Cosford of course, but the pics will have to wait till tomorrow as I foolishly left my camera in my mate Dave's car.

Lots of clubs, SIGS and traders but the heat overpowered it all sadly.

Everyone have a great time at MK, y'all.  Looking forward to the pics and gossip!
Sorry about the transport Chris - the good news is that my daughter did the London marathon for the first time today (her first marathon too) in 4:44:43.

Our congratulations to your daughter!!  In the conditions, that's not a bad time at all!!

Flippi'n good time. Well done

Yup the heat, especially in the morning, was draining to say the least. I'm told that apart from the radiators being on we were also immediately above the swimming pool ? Couldn't quite work out if that was correct or not but it wouldn't of helped. I'll probably not fully "recover" until tomorrow as I still feel absolutely creamed  :-\ The only other problem was the rip off that was the drinks machines. One of them rejected 5 consecutive pound coins. Mind you I had just got them in change from a certain West Midlands emporium  Sainbury's got them this morning

None the less it was a good show, lots to see and great to catch up with people again. The chat is one of the main reasons I look forward to the few shows I go to nowadays, so thanks lads  Got a few bits and was tempted by some others, including some armour in both 1/72 and 1/56, but managed to resist.

Journey home was cracking. Cab arrived 5mins after I called them (and he only charged me £4 as compared to the £10 cab fare there !) and thereafter the necessary train/tube/bus seemed to turn up at the appropriate platform/stop just as I got there  ;D Just over 2 hours door to door home compared to 3 1/2 there.

The main reason I left at 3pm was to avoid the semi final crowds, instead I got the tail end of the Arsenal v West Ham game - still Arsenal won so those going south were happy  ;D

I think I might take my swimming trunks next year  ;)

Whoever told you we were over the swimming pool got it round their neck Chris. You could see the pool from the left hand windows of the hall we were in, and quite clearly from the queue to the café.

I've got my camera back so the few pics I took will be on here later this evening.

Pics at last, sorry for the lateness.

The whole SIG stand.

Left end.

Middle.

Right end.

Not so many Whiffs elsewhere in the show, but this one was too silly to pass up.

I mean how ridiculous is that, a Martin Monterey painted in US Navy colours, madness!

Not Whiffish at all but just for JayBee....

They're 1/144 BTW.

Are you sure it isn't a Martin Marlborough?  ;D  http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal10/9401-9500/gal9433-Marlborough-Bailey/00.shtm

But yeah, that Monterey is just sweet, and the scratchbuilt dolly is a work of art in itself.

Ah right. I hadn't noticed but at least it explains why I couldn't work the geography out  ;)

Cheers for the photos Kit

Thanks chaps, I'll pass on the congrats (and she's threatening to do it again next year - it'd better not clash with MK!).

She's cycling through the Low Countries this weekend!

Now if you'd said Switzerland, Austria and Italy I'd have been impressed

Nah, the amount of cobbled roads still make it a p.i.a. - literally  ;) Me and some mates cycled from Zeebrugge to Copenhagen back in 1968. Our first big, independent adventure. Great fun

Tram lines in Holland can be exciting. Get your bike wheel stuck in one of the channel type tram tracks in Amsterdam with a number 16 tram chasing you is not a life enhancing experience.  Holland, as I recall, was flat enough but WINDY!!........ and it was always blowing towards me!

Tell me about it!

Been there, done that, and with the teeny-weeny and narrow Moulton wheels/tyres that I ride there's even more scope for falling down the slot. I did just that at Fleetwood, right opposite the tram terminal and some potential tram passengers rushed over and helped me up, very nice of them.

Yup, but we did take four weeks. Around 600 miles so we did about 20 miles a day on average and we were fit back then.

Long, fairly hot summer, so it was good fun. Camping and Y.M.C.A.,s. Loads of brand new experiences
