I heard over at Britmodeller that it was likely to be "old stock" which they were clearing, rather than anything new.  Looks like that supposition was right.  Shame you didn't get to ask any questions.

A clearance sale is what I expected to hear. If you can't shift stuff online or ship overseas without hefty tax bills, then a market stall at an airshow is about right.

Don't know if they have any employees left now... maybe some folk 'redeployed' from somewhere else? Or temps?
There again, they'd have redundancy packages/annual leave entitlements to pay out...
Whatever the case it's a bit sad to see it go, even though I was never interested in their stuff.

I got the Junkers D.1 at the last SMW they attended (2019 ?) and it's a stunner, plus has the advantage of being a monoplane.

Some are hoping Copper State Models might 'replace' Wingnut wings.  The sales of the Nieuports have been disappointing compared to the armoured cars but they have an undisclosed RFC machine due.

That being said, their 1/48 kits look amazing if you're not worried about the scale, with some quirky subjects (that's saying something for WWI aircraft).  The Caudron G.IV catches my eye, the float plane version looks even weirder with its boots on.

The Brisfit tempted me.

Any Brisfit always tempts me.

I don't know why but the Bristol F.2b Fighter is the one early fighter that really appeals to me, a moderately close second is the Sopwith Camel.

Normally I detest bi-planes of any vintage, but especially WWI types. It's all that rigging that puts me off, and I've only ever built two of them in my life. The main one was a Hawker Audax, my Dad's favourite aeroplane, which I built for him as an 80th birthday pressie, and that was the only time I'd ever seen him close to breaking down...............

But the first biplane kit I built was a Brisfit, one of those Renwall Aeroskin kits, which gave you a basic skeleton of the airframe with you then had to cover with a light, pre-printed, fabric skin. To say it was difficult would be a monumental understatement, but my mate Derek, who ran a model shop in Oxford, couldn't sell the Aeroskin kits and I was recruited to build one to put in the window.
