So if anyone had asked the "billboard guy" what he was doing, the answer was "I'm having my break"
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Bingo!!!  Then be like.... "Wow, I didn't know they were doing this Thunderbirds thingie over here, I think I'll sit a spell."

That one comes back around next year and I'd like to make it. Last year they had one down at Shepperd AFB in Wichita Falls TX which is closer and quicker to get to....  it's about 45-50 miles South. See, I didn't know they did airshows down there. Last years (or was it actually the year before?) coincided with some innversary if memory serves and that may be why they had it but if it's a normal occurance, I need to look into going to it. It's a bit "counter-intuitive" because it's in an entirely different state, but the truth of the matter is it's a fair chunk closer than the one here in Oklahoma.  :o

Ah right. Need to take a view on the day then

We used to watch the Biggin Hill airshow from my mates back garden whilst having a bbq back in the day

We used to watch the North Weald Airshow from my house, they'd fly round the back of Epping before taking their next run in. Usually I'd watch it this way on the Saturday and actually go to the show on the Sunday.

My great-uncle lived in Mildenhall and one year, 1992 or 1993, my Dad took me there for the airshow. He stayed outside watching from the field at the end of the runway while I went inside and found the delights of proper USAF BBQ food and Mountain Dew.
That year they had an F-111 do a bombing run down the runway with massive explosions. To me and all the crowd it looked great, Dad told afterwards the planes were to the left of the runway and the flames to the right!

Sad to report.....      I held out hope up to 2 days prior to the show of being able to go. I was hoping for a break in the weather but it didn't happen and it was over 100 degrees and very sunny so I had to skip it. So.... no pictures, no nothing. I think they had a pretty decent turn out, however, which is good!!! Maybe more things will happen over there from now on.

Didn't want to leave this hanging, so, there we have it. I'm going to try again for Altus next year and keep my eye on Shepard but They usually have the Altus show in AUGUST so I'll likely not be able to make that one. I wish they would take into account climate when they do these things. It's normally very stable weather in the last parts of summer and great for doing shows but it would be nice if they did the summer time shows up North and save the Southern shows for the cooler parts of the summer.
