I just went into a local independent bookshop and saw Empire Of The Clouds by James Hamilton-Paterson going for £10 in a sale, which is a substantial improvement on the £25 retail price. It's the original, large hardback edition with five Lightnings on the cover and loads of illustrations inside, rather than the smaller paperback with a painting of a white Vulcan on the cover.

I've already got a copy, but I thought I'd get this one anyway and pass it on to anybody who wants it at cost, so that'll be £10 plus postage if you want it posting. Bear in mind that it's quite large and heavy, making the postage significant, so I think probably the best option is to pick it up from me at a show or arrange for somebody else to do so for you. If it doesn't go on here, I'll just put in in my sale box at shows.

It's a great read.  I thoroughly recommend it.

IIRC the smaller edition has less pics but more words.  I read the bigger edition and thought it could do with more words but I wouldn't want to have lost any of the pictures.
Maybe everyone should have both versions?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yes, there's a note in the frontpiece saying that the text is approximately 25% smaller in the big version. Hadn't noticed that before: thanks.

I'm definitely interestng, but I live in the USA.  What would be the shipping "damage" for sending it here?

Cheapest Royal Mail delivery is £10.83 and up to 42 days to get there. That would make the total cost £20.83, which is more than it's selling for on UK Amazon. You'd probably be better off trying to buy it direct in the US to be honest...
