So, after some research and turns out that the Namibian Defense Forces use the T-55 MBT, though their current functional status is unknown. When I plan on doing with my T-55 is updating it with Western Tech and armaments, much like Israel did with the Tiran 5, only this time done by South Africa. Bring the Rhodesian Wars the South Africans only added a radio set to the Rhodesian T-55s that they donated. As Namibia is a relatively new country in Africa, I figured that an updated hand-me-down T-55 mod would be rather appropriate.

I'm surprised what wheeled-tanks weren't more common in that part of the continent.  Something amphibious with six wheels and a 90mm gun would seem to be a lot more useful than creaking tracks.

Why not use the chassis of the SA-8 Gecko AA missile truck for an all-terrain APC?
You get 6 or 8 wheels on a large wheelbase that could carry a load of troops, supplies, a decent 30mm or 57mm cannon.

I'm interested to see what the South Africans could do to fully upgrade a T-55. They certainly have all the skills for the role.

It would be a basic upgrade program, nothing too high tech.

I love the way when someone says "I am going to do this" we all chime in and suggest alternatives whether they want them or not.
;D

That's what makes this forum such a great placebo* visit.

*I mistyped "place to".  Spellcheck's change works though in an odd way.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

So, some parts from a new friend arrived today. Work will start soon, I hope... Still anticipating more needed extras from another friend. 105mm main gun aquired!
