.... and it reminds me of my curiosity about what a Typhoon with (Sea) Fury wing would look like. Smaller than a Tempest but not as "modern" as a Fury.

There was a Sea Typhoon proposed, longer fuselage and longer wings if I remember correctly.

Yep, IIRC fuselage closer to the Tempest's in length.

Nice one, Dizzy.  One of my earliest whifs (and one that got me invited to this forum) was a 'Typhoon IIb' (http://www.arcair.com/Gal7/6201-6300/gal6247-Typhoon-Drake/00.shtm).

Was  the Sea Typhoon radial engined or did it stick with the Sabre?

If so I can't see the FAA liking that all that much, they didn't get on with liquid cooled engines all that much, with some notable exceptions of course.

Well done, Dizzy - that looks so right and the story is convincing.  Hawker did fly two Centaurus engined Tornados - wonder why it wasn't continued.
