Ebay: Hawker P.1214 X-Wing 48th 3d printed

Found this on ebay a few days back:

Now it looks rough and it's really just a desktop model, but AFAIK, it's the only one in the scale and with some work, you could get something out of it.

I've used this guy before - it's where I got my Blake's 7 Scorpio from - and service isn't too bad although I've a feeling they're printed to order.

I've got his 1/48 Hawker P-1154 model.
Looks about the same as this picture. Not a bad model but will need a lot of work to get a decent model out of it.
It needs a LOT of smoothing as the 3D printing is not very high res, so there are ridges all over the model.

I'm not sure how I will tackle that as the print is done is a rather hard Nylon plastic that doesn't sand very well. I've been thinking about covering the whole model in a thin layer of putty and then sanding it carefully. Not sure how that will turn out though.....

That's what I've been doing with my low-res printed parts: Cover them in filler primer, then sand flat. That works well as long as there's no fine surface detail to preserve.
