I've got a 1/100 scale HS Trident made in the G.D.R. exclusively for playmakers Playfix kits.
The decals are for G-AWZB British airways.
My thoughts so far are;
Change the engines
Maritime Patrol
AEW & C
Change the decals

What are your ideas?

Maybe spin the real world military operators' usage further? AFAIK, China and Pakistan used the Trident as transports, so these would lend themselves to a more exotic role. ECM or ELINT, maybe, or a SLAR carrier with bumps galore and a flashy paint scheme?

(O.K., this is a Venezuelan Y-8, but the 4-tone livery is quite cool)

Thanks,
I have two 1/72 Antonov An-12 Cubs in the stash. One vacform kit and the other plastic.

To nab an idea from another thread; Queen's Flight Trident :)

Dark blue cheatline on flourescent red...

I think Her Majesty would require MUCH bigger engines on her Tridents. There's no way the Ground Gripper would ever get off on Northolt's short runways.

A couple of Olympii perhaps?  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

What about a five engine beastie?
An extra two over the wings as there isn't that much ground clearance.
Or twin engines either side of the tail fin similar to the VC 10.

Well if you are thinking of the MR role, Hawker Siddley were a wee bit ahead of you with the HS 800.

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

That picture is in the Chris Gibson Nimrod a Genius along with a few other proposed options for the HS Trident.
Me thinks I should have read that first before writing this topic :banghead:

how about using the Trident as an ASR bird for HM Coast Guard? think that Would work for You? or Use it as a SAR bird for RNLI. Hope these are Workable Ideas for You. Dan

Even a basic Transport Command livery might suit the Trident.  Not sure what it could transport though; beer and spare bulbs to V-bomber dispersal fields perhaps?

McColm

I've got a set of 1/72 USCG decals that I can use.

Sounds Cool, i was gonna Mention that, but Wasn't Sure. Stay Cool. Dan

There were quite a few concepts put forward for the maritime Trident.
The MR.1, MR.2, Avro Type 776 and HS.800.
I'm favouring the BAC artwork showing the BAC Ten-Eleven on patrol with four Speys mounted
VC 10-style.
I've found a pair of B-52G engines which seem to fit the engine mounts. I am raiding the spares bins for the slipper tanks.
