Area 88 1/144 - Kamikaze (Cessna + Zero)

Fantastic!! Zero's great but you know my favorite is the Skyhawk!!  I wish I could find a cheap source for them kits. I looked one time what I found was overseas and around $40-50. 

Once again, the base is brilliant. You should take your stuff around to the Area 88-con or comic-con (or whatever appropriate circle....err... gathering)  and any local model shows.

Thanks Brad! The Skyhawk "kit" is a pre-painted offering from F-Toys and is basically a "gashapon" (Japanese trading toy).  I bought this kit twice now and it was about $12-15 each time including shipping from Japan (or Hong Kong... I forget).  Sometimes eBay sellers offer these as a complete set featuring all the livery variations and that usually clocks in at the $40-50 range - which is not bad considering you get six or seven planes out of it.

Since they're prepainted, you can basically just cut the bits off the sprue and snap it together if you want.  Obviously for my project I had a specific idea in mind, but I have to admit I was tempted to just snap it together and call it an afternoon.

I've never displayed any models at a show before. There is one relatively major one here in Seoul in March, but I think I'd have to be part of a club or something to display.  I'm not sure my models are "show quality" though.

I used to think that.  I still do to be honest.  But apparently the judges think otherwise.
We are our own worst critics as we know where the bodies are buried and we've been up close and personal.

Visit a show before you take the plunge and have a real close look at the models that are entered.  I mean closer than usual.  Try and look at them as closely as you look at yours while building them.  You'll see (in most cases) that the builders are as human as you and I.

If the situation ever arises, I plan to take mine even if for no other reason that to make people question their own existence and wonder if their memory is failing.

Last year mine had the (actually very friendly) guys at the SA Plastic Modelling Expo arguing (politely) amongst themselves as to which categories they should be put in.

Next year I'm thinking of seeing if I can sponsor a table for "What If's".

I've entertained somewhat similar thoughts about going to the local county fair when they have their shindig. You can enter pretty much ANYTHING as art or whatever and set up a table to display your stuff then someone will judge it in some sort of capacity....       It would be interesting to sit around and see who wanders by to look and if I can find any other local modellers. Never know where things might go from there! Similar indeed; considering the lack of anything 'going' around here, I'm faced with making it happen myself or just dealing with it.
