On small props you can dip the tip in paint in a small container with a shallow layer of paint. This will allow you to get an even tip.

That's what I do and to be honest in 1/72 it doesn't matter if all the tips aren't exactly the same size. Or at least it doesn't bother me. I get them so that they look right and then walk away.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
