Well yes, but the whole point of the 'dyne WAS that it could VTOL.

Without a powered rotor it would need some runway length to operate from, and in the 50s there wasn't one like that in the centre of London, of any other cities.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

This is probably a bit too niche but the Hawk T.2 conversion set seemed popular. What about the new wing intended for the Hawk 2000 project aka the P.1225?
