I built this a number of years ago.
It's a Monogram Buick Grand National on a shortened AMT USA1 Monster Truck Chassis.  The USA1 is one of the early generation of Monster Trucks when they still had traditional twin rail chassis rather than space frames.  I replaced the small block chevy with an Auslowe Resin Detroit Diesel 8V92T (12.1 Litre turbo & supercharged two stroke diesel V8).

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

A TWO STROKE?  :o

Heavens, are you sure it wasn't a railway loco engine?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Detroit built a large selection of two-stroke diesels which found their way into trucks, ships and stationary installations.

And OTR buses.  Some of which are lovingly maintained as RV coach conversions.

I was going to point that out.   ;D

When I worked at the poo farm we hired in a Stabiliser powered by one.  This was a large earth moving machine which chopped up the ground and mixed in whatever additional material had been spread in front of it.  In our case a mixture of anhydrous lime and cement.  This created a massive cloud of dust which stuck to your skin and dried out your eyes and from the midst of the cloud came an awesome roar (as it wasn't too well silenced).  Marvellous.

The Detroit Series 71 were manufactured from 1938 to 1995. The 71 refers to the
displacement of a single cylinder, thus a four-cylinder version is 4-71, a six is 6-71
etc. They range from the 1-71 to the 16V-71. The numbers 5 and 7 are skipped, but
there is no reason they couldn't exist in the Whifverse.

Ahah, could this be the source of the much loved (by drag racers...) GMC 6-71 blower?

Great photos Jon. I love studying the people in them, more interesting then the kit sometimes.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
