Another RW build finished.
In 1986, to mark the 75th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy Sea King N16-125 of 817 Squadron (call sign Shark 10) was painted in a commemorative paint scheme.

Following the end of the anniversary year the scheme was retained but the 75 was painted over and replaced with the identification number.

It's the old mould Airfix kit.  Not sure which release as it was a bagged kit and came without transfers.  The instruction sheet showed only the US Navy "63" scheme and there was no astronaut recovery basket included.  There was no flash on the parts and the detail (ok, the many rivets) looked crisp before I sanded it all off.
Transfers are from Novascale.
Green tint on the top windows is two coats of Future floor polish dyed with food colouring.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I guess I saw her in her standard scheme whilst in the RAN FAA but I left the Navy in 1984.

Great job - and memories. it was such a big deal for a kid like me, the 75th.  All those ships from navies we'd never thought much about.  I discovered the Indian Navy that week and got real close - i worked with a bunch of other kids for a catering company selling ice creams all over Garden Island, Woollomooloo, Mrs Macquaries Chair and  the Botanical Gardens. And I remember distinctly the very same Sea King doing its thing with the flag!

zenrat

Thanks mate.  Glad to bring it all back for you.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
