Quick Build-RW P-51 In A Day

So the Cabin Fever had me in a mood to turn out a model quickly.  I went with a Real World build I've been planning for a while but never got around to because the masking intimidated me.  Finally broke the kit out yesterday afternoon at 3, and the finished model was on the shelf tonight at 9.  Thirty hours total elapsed.  I'm fairly happy with it even though it is OOB.  It's a scheme I've always loved. 

The blue on the nose is not he exact shade for Petie 2nd.  It's closer to the blue on Petie 3rd.   Petie 2nd was lighter, but I really just was in the mood to build something quickly so I passed on mixing paint.  I masked the nose with narrow flexible vinyl tape and Tamiya tape, and painted the blue last night (airbrushed Vallejo).  Today I masked off the blue the same way and painted the rest with Testors rattlecan Metalizer Aluminum plate.  Kit is completely OOB except for Eduard fabric seat belt/harness.  Gotta say the fit on this kit is simply astounding, even for Tamiya. 

Anyway...nothing too exciting but thought I'd share.

Looks good.  I did Petie in 72nd scale using the old Hasagawa kit back in my youth.  One of the few builds that is still with me though it has seen better days.  Did the NMF with a paintbrush back then.  Would look at redoing it but I have so many other Mustangs it is better to keep it as a reminder that I actually do build a little better now.
