Realized that apart from the air-frame I didn't know where the other parts were 

Now found most of the unused parts old Airfix Firefly, just not the undercarriage doors of some of the Spitfire parts as I wanted to use the prop from the Mk 22 

Came up with a plan to use the wheels up undercarriage from one of the Novo Firefly's to give an impression of the down undercarriage doors on this build. The proper ones will of course turn up as soon as I get close to putting the modified covers in place.

Time to reserect this thread now that I have found it 

The problems with the missing doors continue. I am sure that I found them at one point as they had ejector pin marks on the backs which I filled, but Lord or the Carpet Monster knows what's happened to them. The plan mentioned earlier    about using undercarriage doors from a NOVO Firefly looks as if it will work though my Hu 90 paint is as thin as ever so may take a few coats of paint to cover both these, in a dark grey plastic, and the white plastic card doors which cover up the struts for the legs when the undercarriage is up. I decided to go with Xtracolur X4 for the upper surfaces, that may have been a mistake but we will see tomorrow.
I have also decided to change the operator to the Kon Marine. I thought the change would be Fairly straight forward seeing that there is a Fairey Aviation Company who can be listed in the back story as producing the modified aircraft.

Masking tape for the demarcation line has been removed and so has the wire support I used while painting.





There are a few places that I could have spent ages on trying to fix which of course only show up when your almost finished the model  but I have decided that it has been hanging around long enough and needs to be put to bed. I have enlarged the hole for the propeller as I am fitting a different unit, the one from the Mk22 Spitfire instead and the hole was too large for the shaft so I enlarged the hole and fitted some tubing which had an internal diameter that was far better for the prop. Painting of various bits and pieces as well as touching up of a few areas have also started so it's progressing even if slowly.
