With that layout, you could have two jet engines and a single rocket above and in-between them... because with 40% less airframe weight, it's obviously still not fast enough...

The view from the rear shows I have followed (imperfectly, sorry) this good idea (Copyright Weaver, how many £ billions?)

Another idea: instead of refitting the tail fin, cut the outer wing panels off and re-mount them vertically as twin, wingtip fins.

The wingtip fins (well displayed on the views below) are also a good idea of Weaver, yes thanks a lot!

For the export market, it is famous that France had refused the Phantom 2 and refused also the Phantom 5, but USSR ordered 5,000 copies of the Phantom 5 (alas no approval from the US Congress). At last, France (with the influence of General Tophe Sr) ordered 100 copies of Twin-Phantom 5 (see below), used till 2012:

Your approval makes me decide my next model will be another modern (cheap 1/144) jetplane turned short. This will probably be the Chinese J-8 II of Academy (MiG-21 with a MiG-23 nose). To be confirmed, in July maybe.
