right, where did the German aircraft engineers, designers, scientists go Post WWII (apart from the USA & USSR)? what's the story about Nazis heading to Argentina?

I ask this because I have my eye on a couple of Blohm & Voss & Messerschmitt Planet Luft'46 kits that I'd like to do post war production versions of for this group build, some info on what actually happened would help before I make some historical stuff up anyway...  ;)

Oh, please note that my knowledge of anything WWII German is just above nil  :D

Well I know that Kurt Tank went to Argentina, built a Ta 183-looking jet fighter, then went on to India...

I think some of the Germans wound up in Egypt? Seem to remember reading something about that Helwan(sp?) prototype had some of their influence?

Otherwise...."I Know No-Tink!"

As I understand it, the Horten brothers went to Argentina for a while.  One of them went back to Europe and the other stayed.

A number went to Spain and then, when the Spanish didn't care to pay for the HA-300, Hispano sold it to Helwan AIrcraft of Egypt and severl Germans moved there.

As others have said, I know Tank, the Horten brothers, and Emil Dewoitine (from France, apparently he was a collaborator) all moved to Argentina.  Beyond that, besides the ones the US and USSR "recruited", France managed to "obtain the services" of most of the Junkers jet engine team to form the original basis of SNECMA.

That's all I can remember reading about.

Kurt Tank moved there from Argentina to do the HF-24.  He had afvanced versions designed, but they neve saw hardware status.
