The prototype Wren Type 6 was rolled out into the sunshine today after a protracted period of development:

The Wren Type 6 was a a private venture to produce a long range escort fighter for the RAF. Powered by a Napier Sabre and armed with four 20mm Cannon it was sent for trials, which were largely successful, but no orders were forthcoming as the Air Ministry did not think that the Wren Company would be able to produce aircraft quickly enough to supply the RAF, and Napier would also struggle supply Sabre engines in addition to those needed for the Hawker Typhoon and Tempest. So the prototype was the only example constructed and its history and loss is described in detail in David Bruce's book The Prototypes
