Could it be used as a way of testing out whiffing ideas without committing to plastic?

I don't know about you, but I tend to have limited extra kits and/or greeblies that I'm willing to chop up  to see if it works.  I'm reluctant, having spent what it might take to acquire a Grail kit from EvilBay / Letsy, knowing that's my last shot at this kit, to risk destroying it experimenting with what I can or can't attach or (gulp) remove/alter on the kit itself.  Might this be a way to "play-test" it first?
Thistle dew, Pig - thistle dew!

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

That's pretty good thinking.

Sometimes you have an idea about a Whiff, and when you try it out it turns out to be rubbish.

I'm minded of my Turricane project, to fit a Defiant turret to a Hurricane, which failed disastrously because a Hurricane fuselage tapers markedly behind the cockpit and the turret is about 7 mm too wide! A CAD aided virtual build would have shown that up right away.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

So if we had CAD models of model kits, with the parts breakdowns as per the original kit we could combine parts from different kits to see how well they fitted together.
We could also generate cutting plans showing were parts had to be cut to get them to fit a kit they were not meant for.
And, we could generate adaptors we could 3d print to make it easier to combine disparate parts.

This is not a game, this is a whiffing tool...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
